EAST LANSING, MI - The Eastside Stars picked up a pair of big wins this past weekend over Linden/Fenton & Farmington Hills to move into first place in the South Central High School Hockey division. Holt's Kyle Raynor tacked on two goals in the 5-3 victory over Farmington Hills Saturday night, adding to the two he had in Eastside's 4-1 victory over Fenton/Linden Friday night.

“We had a flat weekend last weekend, but we found something in practice this week and we firing on Monday and Tuesday in our practices. Then we had a couple of days off and we came to the rink ready to play!”  Okemos Senior Alex Contreras commented post game on Friday night.

This is a different looking Eastside team than yeas past. Due in part to Diamondale's  Summit

Ice arena recently closing, the Mid Michigan Marauders team was contracted and combined into the areas two remaining teams including the Stars. The adjustment, though challenging is starting to bring positive results.

“We picked up Holt ( and Eaton Rapids) and got a couple of good players from them, we continued with Haslett and East Lansing with our combination team." Contreras explained. "We are really coming together well and the guys we are getting rolling.”

Looking ahead Eastside takes on Grand Blanc at home on Friday night, then travels to Jackson to faceoff against Lumen Christi on Saturday.
