Haslett Opens the Season With a Win at Mt. Morris

Haslett came out aggressive in their season opening tournament in Mt. Morris and used that momentum to win their Silver Pool. Haslett defeated Alcona and River Rouge to secure their victory. Haslett’s head coach Tennille Whitmore was pleased with the teams effort and direction.

“We are excited to be back and have everybody on the court, we have lots of potential and there are some really great things we are seeing. It’s also helping us pinpoint some areas of improvement to help us move forward. It’s just really nice to see the whole group out on the court.” Whitmore commented. “We have a lot of firepower in the front row, and we are working on shoring up our service and defense so we can get some more volleys up there. We’ve got solid hitters that can put balls down in a huge block. It’s pretty exciting. It’s a really great foundation to build from. We’ve got some solid passers and defense, we just need to get used to being on the court together. Understanding our seems and responsibilities will help be a little bit more aggressive.”

Haslett is paced with a balanced offensive and opportunistic defense that is anchored by talented players including Parker Rosenbaum, Ellie Humble, Emily Homan, Grace Isenhath and Malorie Pinkleman. That balance allowed Haslett to overcome an athletic River Rouge opponent to win their tournament pool.

“Today was really fun, it’s been a great experience and will be a good lead into the season. We are getting our connection back and working on our bonding.” Haslett junior Malorie Pinkleman commented post game. “We have a good team, I’m hoping we get far into districts and have a good turnout (this year).“
